I love our pomander bridal bouquet.  The stunning pink Gloriosa is amazing with the green Froggy Chrysanthemum with a touch of elegance from the ivory Phalaenopsis Orchid.

 

 

 

 

 

I love the shades of lavenders & purples in this Wedding Bouquet.  As you have probably noticed by now……I like feathers.  The Protea in the centre feels so soft and fluffy.

Wedding Flowers

A little peek at some of our work.

I think we need some cheering up on this dark February day.  I decided to look back through some photos taken of wedding flowers created by Fussy Peacock Design in 2012.  I cannot believe how fast the months have flown in and how long it is since my last blog.  A good sign that the Fussy Peacock Design team have been busy creating fabulous wedding day flowers for all our beautiful Co Wicklow weddings, Dublin weddings and across the country.

I love the simplicity of this table decoration.  The purple Previa Anthurium is a real statement wedding day flower.  We have simply added in elements of china grass and tied with ivory organza.

All Things Nice & Pink

Wedding Season is in full swing now and we have had some wonderful weather for our beautiful brides.  Our brides have been just stunning with gorgeous brides maids in shades of african violet, vintage pink, shades of charcoal grey and fabulous plums to compliment the beautiful bride.

At Fussy Peacock Design we seem to have gone a little pink crazy.  Pink for your wedding day flowers is such a stunning colour and can compliment so many different colours so it has been hard not to suggest pink for our beautiful brides.

I love this bridal bouquet of stunning pink roses with a collar of baby breath.  Fussy Peacock Design made this bouquet for Geraldine & Paul’s wedding day flowers last weekend….the weather was just fabulous.  The freshness and lightness of the pink roses just added to the magic of the day.

 

 

 

I love our little pink flower girls posy’s of pink roses.  Fussy Peacock Design has left the stem a little longer to create a magic wand effect.  I just love the pink ribbon that we have wrapped around the stem to create a candy stripe effect.

Gerberas are such a fun flower to have for your wedding day flowers.  They come in lots of different colours.  This soft pink is really beautiful.

It is nice to carry the theme of your wedding day flowers throughout the day.  Fussy Peacock Design created these glass cube vase arrangement for the bride and groom to present to their Mums at dinner.  These little vases are great for transporting home after a couple of days and also the gerberas and roses have been arranged in oasis which will keep them nice and fresh.

At Fussy Peacock Design we were asked to design a wedding bouquet that was fun, a little unusual but with lots of pink.  No problem…  I just love the gerbera lollipop we used with the soft pink trim it really compliments the pink trim in the tropical anthurium.  The blousy pink ranunculus really add to the texture of the brides wedding bouquet.

Valentines Day – Engagements & Proposals

Its that time of year again…..Valentines Day, it makes us go all romantic.  Especially us girls.  We wait in anticipation for a delivery of fabulous red roses, fluffy teddy bears and of course the big proposal…..will it be this year?  Valentines Day is such a popular day for engagements along with Christmas Day & New Years Eve.

I would love to hear your romantic stories if you are already engaged or if it happens this Valentines Day.  I’ve heard of proposals taking place in gondolas, tops of mountains, on a beautiful beach, sky diving with ‘will you marry me’ scratched out in the sand.  I know so romantic!

Leap Year Proposals

The Ancient Tradition of a Leap Year Proposal

The tradition for women to propose on 29th February each leap year, goes back many hundreds of years to when the leap year day had no recognition in English law (the day was ‘lept over’ and ignored, hence the term ‘leap year’).

It was considered, therefore, that as the day had no legal status, it was reasonable to assume that traditions also had no status.

This allowed women who felt they may be ‘left on the shelf’ take advantage of this day and propose to the man of their dreams who they wished to marry.

Colour trends for wedding flowers 2012

This is such an exciting time of the year for Fussy Peacock Design when I am meeting with the brides to be of 2012 for their initial wedding consultation.

Some of the gorgeous brides have already chosen their bridesmaids dresses while others will be heading off in the New Year. I did notice this year a trend for dark blues/greens and dark purples and with this trend following through for 2012 along with navy’s and greys. Absolutely amazing colours.

Brides really have such a wonderful choice of colour when selecting their wedding flowers to compliment these darker colour bridesmaids’ dresses. Pink….not everyone likes pink but when you blend soft pink flowers with burgundy flowers it really creates an elegant wedding bouquet and is definitely on trend for a vintage feel to your wedding. This colour combination can be used for spring/summer weddings and also autumn/winter wedding. I just love this colour scheme.

Unusual Wedding Bouquet of Aechme, Anthuriums and Hydrangea by Fussy Peacock Design

Another favourite of Fussy Peacock Designs is the amazing peacock feather.  The colours from the peacock feather when the sun shines on it are just amazing.  You get greens, purples, navy’s and black.  Really amazing.  You can incorporate the peacock feather into many different colour schemes.  I love the use of it in this wedding bouquet again using the pink and burgundy colour scheme.  This wedding flower combination also work great in a more traditional  hand tied bridal bouquet

The Wedding & Honeymoon Show (RDS)

Visit Fussy Peacock at the Wedding and Honeymoon Show at the RDS

The Wedding and Honeymoon Show is taking place this weekend (Saturday 3rd and Sunday 4th of September) in the RDS Dublin.  It is the largest wedding show in the country. Fussy Peacock will be there. Come along and visit us.

Other attractions include catwalk shows at 1 and 4pm showcasing 100 wedding dresses and guest celebrity presenters. This is the show of the year and an absolute must if you are planning on getting hitched.  This year promises to be the best one yet.

The RDS Wedding and Honeymoon Show features stands covering absolutely every aspect of your Wedding Day and Honeymoon.

Special Offers

Fussy Peacock will have some special offers at the show (but you should go and “like” our facebook page first!).

The show is open from 11.30am to 5.30pm and admission is €12 at the door.

Fussy Peacock Website Launches

Fussy Peacock are delighted to unveil our new website.  We have done our best to make it user friendly and most importantly, social.

We use Facebook and Twitter.  You can also use the new Google Plus one function on any page.  If you like something in particular why not give it a click and let us know what you like.  In that way we can make continual improvements and you will be helping to further establish Fussy Peacock as Ireland’s best wedding and event florists.
